Measure your life in love.
So who’s in the area that I can drink with? :)
Back me up on this Gord.
me neither
Story time. Once upon a time we were having a family dinner at my house. My mother, father, sister, brother and I were all there. As a note, my dad HATES open cupboards and drawers.
I can’t remember what started the argument (not a real one, but the kind that reminds me my mom and dad are still a couple and silly, not to mention still rather young and in love) but it might have had something to do with a light left on in the back of the house and it prompted my father to get up from the table.
While he was gone mom got up and opened every cabinet in the kitchen and pulled open every drawer. You should have seen the look on my dad’s face when he got back to the dining room. It was hilarious.
As it’s already 11:02 I wanted to make a short list of things I’m thankful for (noting that obviously this list can’t include everything, lol)
My loved ones. This includes my family (who is dramatic and inspiring all at the same time), my friends (the ones I’ve known for a long time and the ones I’ve just met of late), my boyfriend (who continues to enrich my daily life), and my roommate (who get’s a special mention because we live together and he still loves me).
Opportunities. I could look at being laid-off as something to NOT be thankful for, but in reality it has opened the door to doing whatever I want. Go to Maine to volunteer for something I believe in? Sure. Spend an entire weekend drunk of my ass? Absolutely. Meet amazing people and tour the country? Okay.
My possessions. I realize that this isn’t something that I should focus on but it deserves mentioning because I am truly thankful for a warm bed and my iPhone and the computer that I’m sitting here typing on. That I have a place to live, where people can come and have turkey or wine and a TV on which to watch Glee.
Love. This is sort of a sweeping thanks… for friendship and familiarity, for laughter and good times. For standing up with others in the name of love. For fantastic sex (that counts as love), for ridiculous couples everywhere (Jon and I, included), for the passion that creates music and art within myself and the people around me.
- substitute a second helping of mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, or pumpkin-banana bread for a glass of wine.
- choose one: pie, cake, or dessert bar. substitute the other two with glasses of wine or, if you’re feeling like putting some effort into your libation bearing, a pumpkintini.
- wash down all the rest of the food you eat with an ample serving of wine.
I like your plan.
dammit.
